After years of decline Woolwich is now undergoing a major revival. The next phase of the redevelopment of the Royal Arsenal will include 2,500 new homes, leisure and restaurant facilities, and a major cinema. Construction of the Docklands Light Railway station, which will open by early 2009, is underway and should lead to an improved range of shops in Woolwich as well as better transport connections.
