ALLAN MACCARTHY was born in Woolwich, has lived in Charlton nearly all his life and is very proud of his community links.
An active campaigner for
over 35 years, Allan’s particular interests are education, the arts and Charlton itself. He chairs the borough’s Schools’ Forum and is a governor of both Cherry Orchard and Sherington primary
schools. He was a governor of Greenwich Theatre for nearly 20 years and is now on Greenwich Dance Agency’s board. He is on the Rathmore Centre’s committee and has been a Charlton Society member for
30 years.
Allan was an alderman and a councillor for 11 years until work pressures caused him to retire. With changed work circumstances he is now seeking election to the Council to combine his commitment to
the community with his experience to serve Greenwich as a whole and Charlton in particular.
