East Greenwich and the Peninsula continue to see intense interest from those wanting to build new homes and businesses.
Labour is working to ensure new development is sensitive to those already living here.A new leisure centre and library are planned for the former Greenwich
District Hospital site (above), in what should be one of London’s first major “carbon neutral” developments. As the Peninsula develops, we are determined to make sure that
there are new schools and health facilities for the new population and that the long tradition of using local labour is preserved. There are several other ways the Labour
council is leading the way to build a sustainable future:
•A “car club” is rapidly becoming more popular across the area, reducing traffic, and saving parking spaces and residents’
money.
•All new buildings are required to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency.
•The O2 (or Dome, as some of us like to call it!) is served by fantastic tube, bus and riverboat links, and Labour is lobbying for more
improvements.
