    Charlton Branch Labour Party

Charlton CouncillorsLabour Councillors for Charlton.

Charlton Branch Labour Party is a friendly and highly active growing organisation of 100 members.  It covers the majority of SE7 (though parts are in Peninsula, Riverside and Kidbrooke with Hornfair wards) and the Rectory Field area of SE3 .  As well as a lively Branch programme with debates ranging over local, national and international issues, we have regular listening canvasses with our MP and councillors asking not for votes but to help people with any problems and suggestions, organise a strong social programme including a Christmas party for many senior citizens and get involved in key local issues.  In May 2007, the then Party Chair Hazel Blears MP was the Branch’s guest at a Policy & Pasta evening at Charlton House attended by 65 members and guests.  We are very much rooted in the local community and have campaigned on local issues such as for a new excellent secondary school for Charlton and successfully against suggested cutting of the direct Charlton-Charing Cross train route.
