JOHN WAKEFIELD
John is a family man with a wife and three daughters, all of them educated at local schools in Greenwich. He was first elected to Greenwich Council in 1982 and has been a
Labour councillor for Glyndon ward since 1994.
He has served as chief whip, vice-chair of Housing, chaired a Planning committee and is currently vice-chair of overview & scrutiny and chair of the finance and central services scrutiny panel,
making sure the council spends council tax payers’ money wisely. John wants to see improved housing conditions through the decent homes scheme and has already worked hard to ensure that we get a
Children’s Centre in the Glyndon area.
The regeneration of Woolwich and new transport links like the DLR and Crossrail will make a huge difference to this area, and if re-elected John will fight to see that the economic benefits reach
everyone.
