Paul has lived in Glyndon ward for 21 years, and was first elected as a councillor here in 2002.

He has been on the committee of Glyndon Community Centre for nine years, and Chair for the past four. He helped pioneer Children’s centres, and in particular the Glyndon Children’s Centre which is now being built. He has studied and worked at the London Metropolitan University since 1987, obtaining his doctorate in political history in 2002.

As a councillor he has served on the Health and Social Inclusion scrutiny panels and worked closely with SureStart and Neighbourhood Renewal. He was responsible for setting up the Woolwich People community newspaper and sits on the editorial board. Paul Tyler is currently the Mayor of Greenwich and has been a school governor at Woolwich Polytechnic Boys’ School for 12 years. He is a member of the GMB and the Cooperative Party.
