Alex Grant, Blackheath Westcombe ward
Alex Grant is Chair of Greenwich Council's Planning Board and has been a
Labour councillor in Blackheath since 1998 (representing Vanbrugh ward
1998-2002, and after boundary changes Blackheath Westcombe ward since
2002).
Alex has never been afraid to speak up for this area. He has worked
tirelessly with residents’ groups for better public transport, housing
and policing, has played a key role in regenerating the borough and
improving services such as recycling and graffiti removal. He has held a
number of council posts including cabinet member for the Environment,
chair of the council's Environment, Development and Regeneration
Scrutiny Panel, and chair of the Leaseholder Forum.
Alex is currently chair of the Blackheath Joint Working Party, which
monitors the maintenance and amenity of the Heath. Alex is a director of
Blackheath Halls and serves on the committee of the Greenwich Housing
Society, which provides housing to older people in Blackheath.
Alex was born in Essex in 1973 but was brought up in Blackheath from the
age of 6 and went to Invicta primary school, where is currently a
governor. Alex lives with his partner Liz, who is a designer working in
the borough, and their baby daughter.
